How We Raise Our Pups
Our puppies remain with us until they are 8 weeks old, allowing us to carefully shape their earliest experiences during one of the most critical developmental periods of their lives. These first weeks lay the foundation for a confident, sociable, and highly trainable companion; one who can seamlessly be part of your everyday life.
From the very beginning, our puppies are raised in a safe, enriched environment designed to encourage curiosity, resilience, and engagement. They are exposed to a variety of sights, sounds, and experiences, with plenty of positive interactions with people of all ages as well as other animals. As soon as they are mobile, puppies are thoughtfully introduced to age-appropriate agility obstacles such as tunnels, ramps, catwalks, and wobble boards. This early exposure helps build body awareness, confidence, and a willingness to try new things.
Around 6 weeks of age, they are given a positive and carefully managed introduction to water; an experience most Golden Retrievers naturally love. We also introduce bird scent to begin evaluating natural instincts and prey drive, an important component for puppies from working and performance-focused lines.
Our goal is to produce Golden Retrievers who not only excel in the field or sport but also thrive in training and enjoy having a job to do. To further support their development, we incorporate Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), a protocol originally developed by the U.S. Army for military working dogs. ENS helps improve stress tolerance, adaptability, and overall resilience.

At 8 weeks, each puppy undergoes a structured temperament evaluation. This “puppy testing” allows us to assess traits such as confidence, drive, sociability, and resilience. Using this information, we thoughtfully match each puppy to the home and lifestyle where they will thrive, whether that’s an active sport home, a hunting partner, or a well-rounded companion.
By the time your puppy goes home at 8 weeks old, they are well on their way to becoming a confident, capable partner - prepared for a life full of training, adventure, and connection.
